The Los Angeles Angels signed outfielder Adam Eaton on Wednesday after the veteran’s unceremonious end to his second stint with the Chicago White Sox.

The White Sox designated Eaton, 32, for assignment last week. He cleared waivers and was granted his unconditional release Monday.

Eaton saw action in 58 games for the White Sox in 2021, playing right field in 55 of those games. He put up a career-low .201 batting average with five home runs, 22 RBIs and 33 runs scored.

Nicknamed “Spanky,” Eaton is a career .278 hitter with 65 home runs, 165 doubles, 317 RBIs and 86 stolen bases in 10 seasons. He has played for the Arizona Diamondbacks (2012-13), White Sox (2014-16, 2021) and the Washington Nationals (2017-20).

He won a World Series in 2019 as an everyday player for the Nationals.

The Angels designated left-handed pitcher Dillon Peters for assignment to make room on their 40-man roster for Eaton. Peters gave up four runs (three earned) in 1 2/3 innings of his lone 2021 start for Los Angeles.
