Trevor Story hit a walk-off homer to lead off the ninth, and the host Colorado Rockies beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-3 in Denver on Sunday to sweep the three-game series.
Story finished with two hits, Josh Fuentes had two doubles and Daniel Bard (2-3) got the win with an inning of relief.
Pavin Smith homered and David Peralta had two hits for the Diamondbacks, who have lost eight in a row and their last 13 road games.
Story won the game when he drove a 1-1 pitch from Stefan Crichton (0-3) over the wall in center field. It was his fifth of the season.
Arizona starter Taylor Widener left in the second inning with right groin discomfort. He was activated from the 10-day injured list due to a right groin strain prior to the game.
With one out in the second inning Dom Nunez walked, and a two-out error by Josh Rojas put runners on the corners. Story lined a single to right to drive in Nunez and give Colorado a 1-0 lead, at which point Widener left.
Widener walked two, hit two batters, gave up one hit and allowed an unearned run 1 2/3 innings before leaving.
Rockies starter Jon Gray cruised through the first four innings, retiring the first 12 batters. Peralta finally broke the streak with a leadoff single in the fifth. The Diamondbacks nearly tied it on Josh Reddick’s drive to center but Yonathan Daza made a running catch with one out to keep Arizona off the board.
The Diamondbacks broke through in the sixth. Gray walked the first two batters, and a throwing error by catcher Nunez put runners on the corners with one out. Dalton Varsho scored on a sacrifice fly and Smith homered to right to put Arizona ahead 3-2.
Gray allowed three runs on two hits in six innings.
Colorado tied it in the eighth when Ryan McMahon singled and took second on an error, moved to third on a fly out and scored on a grounder to second.
