New York Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez exited Saturday’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays with a contusion to his right index and middle fingers.

The Yankees said X-rays were negative and listed Sanchez as day-to-day.

Sanchez was hurt in the fourth inning when a foul ball by Randy Arozarena hit him in the right hand. He initially stayed in the game after being checked out for several minutes and then took his at-bat in the bottom half of the frame, flying out to center field.

Sanchez was replaced by Kyle Higashioka in the fifth inning.

Sanchez was 0-for-1 with a walk on Saturday and is hitting .237 (9-for-38) with two homers and four RBIs. Last season, Sanchez batted .147 with 10 homers and 24 RBIs to go along with 64 strikeouts in 49 games in the shortened season.
