Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo will not play in Saturday’s game against the visiting New York Knicks, coach Mike Budenholzer announced.

The Bucks apparently are being cautious with the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player. Budenholzer told reporters prior to the game that Antetokounmpo did not sustain any new or further injury to his ailing left knee.

Antetokounmpo wasn’t the only star player slated to sit out this game. New York’s Julius Randle (thigh) joined teammate Reggie Bullock (ankle) in being ruled out as well.

Antetokounmpo, 26, averages team-best totals in points (28.3), rebounds (11.5) and assists (6.4) for Milwaukee, which saw its season-high eight-game winning streak halted with a 122-114 setback to Boston on Friday.

Khris Middleton (hip), Jrue Holiday (knee) and Donte DiVincenzo (foot) have also been ruled out for Saturday’s game.

Middleton, 29, averages 20.5 points, 6.1 rebounds and 5.4 assists.

Holiday, 30, averages 15.9 points, 5.1 assists, 4.4 rebounds and a team-best 1.7 steals.

DiVincenzo, 24, averages 10.7 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists.

A first-time All-Star, Randle sports team-leading totals in points (23.0), rebounds (10.8) and assists (5.8).

Bullock, 30, is averaging 9.3 points and 3.4 rebounds this season.
