Duke senior point guard Jordan Goldwire will enter the transfer portal with one season of eligibility remaining, the program announced Saturday.

Goldwire, who leaves as a graduate, started 11 of 24 games for the Blue Devils last season, leading the team with 4.0 assists per game. He averaged 5.8 points and earned a spot on the ACC All-Defensive team for a Duke squad that went 13-11 and missed the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1995.

Goldwire, a four-year player for Duke, has an additional year of eligibility thanks to the NCAA allowing an extra year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Duke fans owe Jordan a tremendous amount of respect for being such a first-class player, leader and teammate during his four years in our program,” coach Mike Krzyzewski said in a statement.

“Jordan always embraced his role, and his improvement over the course of his career is a testament to his mentality and competitive spirit. He was outstanding to coach and we wish him all of the best.”

Goldwire was second in the ACC in steals this season (2.25 per game). He started 15 of 31 games as a junior, when he averaged 4.7 points, 2.3 assists and 1.5 steals.

“I want to thank Coach K, the coaching staff and administration for helping me grow, mature and become a better player these last four years and giving me an opportunity to play for one of the greatest programs,” Goldwire said in a statement.

Earlier this week, Duke freshman forward Jaemyn Brakefield announced he was entering the transfer portal.
