The Atlanta Hawks announced the signing Monday of veteran free agent center Gorgui Dieng.

While the team didn’t disclose contract details, The Athletic reported the 6-foot-10 Dieng signed for one year and $4 million.

“With the signing of Gorgui, we’ve added more size and depth to our frontcourt rotation. He’s an experienced big with length who can space the floor and defend,” Hawks general manager Travis Schlenk said.

Dieng, 31, has played for three teams since the Utah Jazz picked him late in the first round of the 2013 NBA Draft. The Jazz dealt his rights to the Timberwolves, and he played seven-plus seasons (2013-20) in Minnesota, followed by stints with the Memphis Grizzlies (2019-21) and San Antonio Spurs (2021).

In 38 games last season with the Grizzlies and Spurs, Dieng averaged 6.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. In 553 career regular season games (205 starts), he has averages of 7.8 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists.

The Hawks made a surprise run to the NBA Eastern Conference finals last season and already have signed two key members of that team — guard Trae Young and forward John Collins — to massive contract extensions this month.
