Nebraska guard Dalano Banton said Monday he will test the 2021 NBA Draft waters, leaving open the option of returning to the Cornhuskers next season.

The 6-foot-9 Toronto native averaged 9.6 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 27 games (22 starts) during the 2020-21 season.

Banton sat out the 2019-20 campaign after transferring from Western Kentucky, where he posted 3.4 points, 3.0 boards and 2.1 assists in 31 games (12 starts) in 2018-19.

Banton made his announcement on Twitter.

“These past 2 years at Nebraska have put me in a position to chase my lifelong dreams of being an NBA player. Thanks to all my family, teammates, coaches & support staff for all the support, encouragement and advice,” he wrote. “With that being said, I am declaring for the 2021 NBA Draft with the option to return back to Nebraska.”

The draft is scheduled for July 29.
