Villanova power forward Dhamir Cosby-Roundtree will not be able to play in 2021-22 following a history of leg injuries and surgeries.

The Wildcats removed the senior from their active roster Wednesday with the regular season roughly six weeks out. Cosby-Roundtree will retain his scholarship.

“Multiple injuries and surgeries have determined that Dhamir Cosby-Roundtree will be unable to play this year,” Villanova coach Jay Wright tweeted. “He will remain an asset to our program in an off-court role.

“Dhamir has been an outstanding player and part of our Villanova family. We’re excited that DaDa is going to remain a valued contributor to our program this season while pursuing his master’s degree.”

Cosby-Roundtree last played in the 2019-20 season and tried to make a comeback from his multiple leg surgeries. He was a freshman on the 2017-18 Villanova team that won the national title.

In 105 career games (17 starts), the Philadelphia native averaged 3.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 0.5 blocks per game.
