New York Liberty forward/center Natasha Howard will miss four to six weeks due to a sprained MCL in her left knee.

The Liberty said Wednesday that the severity of the injury was detected via an MRI and clinical exam on Tuesday.

Howard was injured during Monday’s 88-81 victory over the Dallas Wings.

Howard is averaging 14.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in two games this season. She recently returned from playing overseas in Italy.

The 29-year-old spent the previous three seasons with the Seattle Storm. She was part of WNBA title teams in 2018 and 2020 and was an All-Star and the league’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2019.

The Liberty acquired Howard in February from the Storm.

Howard has career averages of 9.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 224 games (109 starts) over eight seasons with the Indiana Fever (2014-15), Minnesota Lynx (2016-17), Seattle and New York.

Howard also was a member of Minnesota’s 2017 title team.
