100 Thieves defeat Cloud9, advance to LCS 2021 Championship final

100 Thieves defeated Cloud9 3-1 on Saturday in Los Angeles to secure their spot in the finals of the League Championship Series 2021 Championship.

100 Thieves will face Team Liquid in the finals Sunday. The two faced off in the finals of the winners’ bracket on Aug. 21 with Team Liquid winning the last two matches to take the match 3-2.

Team Liquid have not lost at the championships while 100 Thieves have only lost to Team Liquid.

On Saturday, the first map went to 100 Thieves, who won in 32 minutes on blue. They took a 2-0 lead with a long 49 minutes win, also on blue.

Cloud9 tried to get back into the match with a 28-minute win on red.

But 100 Thieves clinched with a 34-minute win on red.

Australian Victor “FBI” Huang had a team high 22 kills along with 20 assists for 100 Thieves. Choi “huhi” Jae-hyun of South Korea had only four kills but added a whopping 36 assists.

The top two teams in the LCS 2021 Championship will qualify for the main draw of the League of Legends World Championship, scheduled to be held later this year in China. The third-place LCS finisher will earn a spot in the World Championship’s play-in event.

The championship brackets run through Aug. 29, with the final rounds held at Los Angeles’ LCS Arena.

The top eight clubs from the Summer Split advanced to the championship, and all matches are best-of-five. The two matches contested last Saturday and Sunday featured the teams that finished third through sixth, vying for the right to oppose the top two teams in the second round.
