Celtics cruise through two rounds in NBA 2K League’s Ticket tourney

Celtics Crossover Gaming registered back-to-back sweeps Thursday to advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals of the NBA 2K League’s “The Ticket” tournament.

The event featured the seven Eastern Conference teams and six Western Conference teams that did not earn the automatic playoff berths that went to the top five in each conference. One team per conference will earn a playoff slot by reaching the final of The Ticket, which runs through Saturday.

The sixth-place teams in each conference based on the regular-season standings earned automatic berths in their conference’s final round in The Ticket. The other teams are battling to square off with the sixth-place squads. All matches are best-of-three.

In Eastern Conference action, the Celtics handled Hawks Talon GC 2-0 before ousting Magic Gaming 2-0.

The Gen.G Tigers earned a 2-1 win over Heat Check Gaming, who had advanced with a 2-1 victory over Raptors Uprising GC.

The Tigers and Celtics will square off on Friday for the right to meet Knicks Gaming in the Eastern Conference final on Saturday.

Sheriff “FT” Cruz led the Celtics with averages of 21.5 points and 10 assists against the Hawks. In the victories over the Magic, FT put up 33.5 points and 9.5 assists per game.

In the Western Conference, Blazer5 Gaming swept Bucks Gaming 2-0 after the Bucks had ousted Lakers Gaming 2-0.

Cavs Legion GC advanced with a 2-1 victory over the Mavs.

The Cavs and Blazer5 will meet Friday, with the winner taking on Kings Guard Gaming for a Western Conference playoff berth.

–Eastern Conference semifinal, best-of-three, Celtics vs. Tigers, 5 p.m. ET
–Western Conference semifinal, best-of-three, Cavs vs. Blazer5, 8 p.m. ET

On Saturday, the conference finals will begin at 5 p.m. ET and will be followed by The Ticket finals.
