Evil Geniuses defeated Dignitas 3-1 on Saturday to open Round 1 of the championship brackets at the League Championship Series – North America.

EG advance to play 100Thieves, who was placed in Round 2 of the upper bracket by virtue of their second-place finish during the summer season. Dignitas will face Immortals in the losers’ bracket.

EG opened with a win in 28 minutes on blue. American Kyle “Danny” Sakamaki led the way with a kills-deaths-assists ratio of 10-0-4.

Dignitas took the second map in 37 minutes, also on blue. David “Yusui” Bloomquist of the U.S. had a monster outing for Dignitas, finishing with a K-D-A of 10-2-6.

However, EG won the next two to advance, including winning the third map in 26 minutes on blue. Italy’s Daniele “Jiizuke” di Mauro led the way with a K-D-A of 5-0-6 for EG.

The championship brackets run through Aug. 29. It was announced earlier Saturday that the final rounds will be moved from Newark, N.J., to Los Angeles (LCS Arena) due to rising cases of COVID-19.

The top eight clubs from the summer season advanced and all matches are best of five.

Round 1 of the championship continues Sunday with Cloud9 taking on Team Liquid. C9 finished in fourth while TL finished fifth during the season.
