Hornets Venom GT win The Turn tournament

Hornets Venom GT finished off their first in-season tournament title by sweeping both semifinal series and the finals of The Turn in the NBA 2K League on Saturday.

The Hornets began their finals series against Blazer5 Gaming with a 76-65 win, thanks to a 21-11 burst in the fourth quarter. They then took the opposite approach in the clincher, going up 19-9 in the first quarter en route to a 67-59 victory.

Craig “rigby” Burnett Jr. finished the first game with 31 points and nine assists, including going 11 of 18 from the field and 8 of 12 from 3-point range. Peter “PeteBeBallin” Malin collected 24 points and 13 rebounds, and Justin “Sherm” Sherman added 12 points and 11 assists for the Hornets.

Matthew “Bash” Robles finished with 15 points and 15 assists for Blazer5, while Marquis “Randomz” Gill and Dayvon “GOOFY757” Curry scored 16 points apiece.

In the second game, Sherm finished with 20 points, followed by ribgy with 18 and PeteBeBallin with 13.

Rashann “Scretty” Petty scored 22 points to lead Blazer5 in the second game, followed by Bash with 14 and GOOFY757 with 10 points and 15 rebounds.

The Hornets advanced to the finals by sweeping Heat Check Gaming, 81-47 and 75-63. Blazer5 earned their berth in the finals by sweeping Wizards District Gaming 74-67 and 72-67.

Rigby was named MVP after he averaged 24.5 points in the finals, 25.5 points in the semifinals, and 21.3 points over the team’s nine games played in the tournament.
