Jazz, Warriors, Knicks, Nets win NBA 2K League playoff openers

Brentathan “Lord Beezus” Aasgaard drained a tiebreaking 3-pointer with 0.4 seconds left Thursday, sealing Jazz Gaming’s two-game sweep of Blazer5 Gaming in the first round of the NBA 2K League playoffs.

The Jazz earned 81-60 and 84-81 wins over Blazer5 in first-round Western Conference action.

In the other first-round Western Conference series, Warriors Gaming Squad rallied past Pistons GT 2-1. After the Pistons’ 69-63 victory in the opener, the Warriors prevailed 73-68 and 81-64.

In Eastern Conference action, Knicks Gaming came from behind to beat Grizz Gaming 2-1. The Grizz rolled to an 80-47 win before the Knicks claimed 75-63 and 76-55 victories.

NetsGC also advanced in the East, ousting 76ers GC 2-1. The Nets prevailed 72-62 before the 76ers pulled level with a 103-79 blowout. In the third game, the Nets pulled out a 80-69 victory.

After a regular season of online competition, the postseason is being held at Mavs Gaming Hub in Dallas. Action continues with the conference semifinals on Friday, then the conference finals on Saturday. All matches this week are best-of-three.

The best-of-five NBA 2K League Finals are scheduled for Sept. 4 in Dallas. The winning team will earn $450,000 from a prize pool of $1.08 million.

The Jazz advance to face second-seeded Pacers Gaming thanks in large part to Kimanni “Splashy” Ingram’s 24 points and 14 assists in the clinching game. Matthew “Bash” Robles put up 28 points and 13 assists for Blazer5 in the defeat.

The Warriors’ opponent in the West semifinals will be top-seeded T-Wolves Gaming.

In the East, the Knicks will next match up with top-seeded Wizards District Gaming, and the Nets will square off with second-seeded Hornets Venom GT.
