Denmark’s Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen logged a 19-9-20 kill-death-assist ratio, leading Team Liquid to a 3-1 win over Cloud9 on Sunday in the first round of the League Championship Series 2021 Championship.

Liquid move on to a second-round matchup against TSM on Aug. 15 in the season-ending tournament for the top League of Legends competition. Cloud9 next will play a losers-bracket elimination match against Golden Guardians.

The championship brackets run through Aug. 29, with the final rounds held at Los Angeles’ LCS Arena.

The top eight clubs from the Summer Split advanced, and all matches are best of five. The two matches contested Saturday and Sunday featured the teams that finished third through sixth, vying for the right to oppose the top two teams in the second round.

The seventh- and eighth-place teams from the Summer Split will open the event in the loser first round next Thursday and Friday.

The top teams in the LCS 2021 Championship will qualify for the main draw of the League of Legends World Championship, scheduled to be held later this year in China. The third-place LCS finisher will earn a spot in the World Championship’s play-in event.

Liquid claimed the first map in 29 minutes on red as Jensen racked up an 8-2-1 K-D-A ratio, then won the second map in 29 minutes on blue behind Jensen’s 6-0-7.

Cloud9 stayed alive with a 42-minute victory on blue thanks to a 6-1-8 K-D-A ratio from Croatia’s Luka “Perkz” Perkovic.

Liquid sealed the match with 27-minute triumph on red as the United Kingdom’s Barney “Alphari” Morris produced a 5-1-4 K-D-A ratio.

The next four scheduled matches in the LCS 2021 Championship:
–Thursday, Immortals vs. Dignitas, losers bracket first round
–Friday, Golden Guardians vs. Cloud9, losers bracket first round
