The Minnesota Rokkr, coming off a fourth-place finish in the Call of Duty League playoffs, added to the coaching staff Friday, hiring Daniel “Loony” Loza.

He joins a staff that already features Brian “Saintt” Baroska as head coach and Jacob “Reppin” Trobaugh as assistant coach.

Loony tweeted in response to the club’s statement, “Happy to start my coaching career with such a great franchise and team. #PlayAsOne”

Loony, 28, is a former Call of Duty player who competed for Rise Nation, Team Kaliber, Team Envy and Splyce, among other teams, before the Call of Duty League was founded in 2020. He spent the league’s opening year with the Toronto Ultra, who finished sixth place in the playoffs, then played this year for the Seattle Surge, who finished ninth in the regular season, one spot out of a playoff berth.

The Rokkr placed sixth in the 2020 regular season.
