Ninjas in Pyjamas is returning to competitive League of Legends play in 2022 as part of its merger with ESV5, a joint venture by Chinese esports programs eStar Gaming and Victory 5.

The Victory 5 team, which went 0-16 in the 2021 LPL Summer Split, will be rebranded as Ninjas in Pyjamas for next season.

NiP, based in Sweden, previously fielded a League of Legends team in Europe from 2013-18.

“Today we’re taking a massive step towards that goal by entering a new market together with Chinese esports group ESV5 to create NIP Group — a global organization that fields teams in all the major esports titles,” NiP said a statement.
