Tigers, Blazer5 reach conference finals in NBA 2K League’s Ticket

The Gen.G Tigers and Blazer5 Gaming earned wins Friday night to advance to their respective conference finals in the NBA 2K League’s The Ticket tournament.

The Tigers edged Celtics Crossover Gaming 2-1 to earn a matchup with Knicks Gaming in the Eastern Conference final on Saturday.

Blazer5 swept Cavs Legion GC 2-0 to set up a showdown with Kings Guard Gaming in the Western Conference final on Saturday.

The winners of both conference finals will earn the last two spots in the NBA 2K League playoffs, and they also will meet later Saturday night in The Ticket finals.

The event featured the seven Eastern Conference teams and six Western Conference teams that did not earn the automatic playoff berths, which went to the top five in each conference. One team per conference will earn a playoff slot based on results in The Ticket.

The sixth-place teams in each conference based on the regular-season standings earned automatic berths in their conference’s final round in The Ticket. The other teams all battled to square off with the sixth-place squads, the Knicks and Kings. All matches are best-of-three.

Gen.G opened with a 63-57 win on Friday before the Celtics stayed alive with a 75-72 victory. The Tigers sealed the series with a 73-63 triumph.

Jordan “JMoney” Martinez paced Gen.G with averages of 29.7 points and 8.7 assists. Sheriff “FT” Cruz put up 27.3 points and 8.7 points per game for the Celtics.

Blazer5 rolled past the Cavs 83-68 and 85-78.

Matthew “Bash” Robles contributed 27 points and 14.5 assists per game for Blazer5. Albano “oFAB” Thomallari logged 32.5 points and 11.5 assists per contest for the Cavs.

The Saturday schedule features Tigers-Knicks and Blazer5-Kings playing their best-of-three series, alternating games every half-hour. The Ticket’s best-of-three final will follow.
