New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley continues to recover from a torn ACL he suffered last September, and coach Joe Judge likes where Barkley stands in the process.

Judge declined to provide a timetable for Barkley’s return to action, but his overall reviews of Barkley’s rehab were positive.

“He comes in every day, he attacks every day from a rehab standpoint,” Judge said. “He’s had a phenomenal attitude and great motivation; he’s been tremendously positive.”

Judge added that the Giants are taking pains to facilitate Barkley’s rehab at “the correct rate for his individual body and injury,” but that he “couldn’t be happier” with how Barkley is approaching the rehab.

Barkley, the No. 2 overall draft pick in 2018, saw his third NFL season cut short after tearing his ACL in Week 2 of the 2020 season against the Pittsburgh Steelers. In 31 career games, Barkley has gained 2,344 yards on 4.7 yards per carry with 17 rushing touchdowns and six receiving scores.

Quarterback Daniel Jones added that Barkley is doing all he can to be ready for Week 1 of the 2021 season.

“That’s the type of person he is and the type of worker he is,” Jones said. “Certainly, we’ve got his back and (are) supporting him and I know he’s working his tail off, everything he can do and doing what the trainers are asking him to do. He’s had that mindset since … he went down and it’s been fun to watch him work.”
