Left wing Nikolaj Ehlers will return to the Winnipeg Jets lineup Sunday night for Game 3 of their first-round playoff series against the visiting Edmonton Oilers.

Ehlers, 25, last played on April 24 against the Toronto Maple Leafs, when he suffered an upper-body injury while taking a hit from defenseman Jake Muzzin. The ninth pick of the 2014 NHL Draft, Ehlers missed the Jets’ past 11 games.

“Everyone goes through certain injuries at some point during a season. Mine just happened to be at the end of the regular season. I know where I’m at and I’m excited for playoff hockey,” Ehlers said. “You want to play. There’s not one player in this league that doesn’t want to be out there for these playoff games. So yes, I definitely wanted to play the first two games. … My time has come. I’m ready to go.”

In 47 games this season, Ehlers had 46 points (21 goals and 25 assists) while averaging 16:55 of ice time. Ehlers’ 46 points were tied for third on the Jets with Blake Wheeler and trailed top two scorers Mark Scheifele (63 points) and Kyle Connor (50).

In 416 career games — all with Winnipeg — Ehlers has recorded 303 points (136 goals, 167 assists).

The Jets entered Sunday’s game with a 2-0 lead in the series after their 4-1 victory in Game 1 and a 1-0 overtime triumph in Game 2, both on the road. Game 4 is set for Monday night in Winnipeg.
