Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin will miss the remainder of the season, coach Jeff Blashill announced Friday.

Larkin scored a goal late in the third period during the Red Wings’ 5-2 loss to the Dallas Stars on Tuesday. The forward exited soon after with an upper-body injury and did not play in Detroit’s 7-3 victory over Dallas on Thursday.

Per Blashill, Larkin will be re-evaluated in two weeks. The Red Wings (17-25-7, 41 points) reside 11 points behind the fourth-place Nashville Predators in the Central Division with seven games remaining on their schedule.

Larkin, a Detroit-area native and former University of Michigan star, shares the team in lead in points (23) with defenseman Filip Hronek. Larkin has nine goals and 14 assists in 44 games this season.

Larkin, 24, has collected 289 points (116 goals, 173 assists) in 433 games since being selected by the Red Wings with the 15th overall pick of the 2014 NHL Draft.
