The San Jose Sharks re-signed restricted free agent goaltender Josef Korenar to a one-year contract.

The team announced the two-way deal Tuesday, which was worth $750,000 in the NHL and $85,000 in the AHL with $125,000 guaranteed, according to The Mercury News.

“Josef took a big step in his development last season, showing his athleticism and awareness in net while appearing in the NHL for the first time,” said general manager Doug Wilson in a statement. “He also delivered a strong performance in the AHL’s Pacific Division playoffs, leading AHL goaltenders in goals-against average and helped the Barracuda to the semifinals.”

Korenar, 23, went 3-5 with a 3.17 goals-against average and .899 save percentage in 10 games as a rookie for the Sharks this past season. After making his NHL debut on April 10, the Czech native will continue to back up starter Martin Jones.

Korenar originally inked an entry-level deal with the Sharks as a 19-year-old in the summer of 2017.
