Adam Buksa scored in the 70th minute to lead the New England Revolution to their third consecutive victory, 1-0 over FC Cincinnati on Saturday.

The victory is the Revolution’s first on the road in 2021.

Buksa recorded his fourth goal of the campaign when he skied above the pack to head home Carles Gil’s perfect placement off a set piece. The Eastern Conference-leading Revolution (5-1-2, 17 points) were the aggressors all afternoon, posting 26 total shots, including six on target, to improve to 1-1-2 on the road.

Trying to build on its first win of the season last weekend against CF Montreal, Cincinnati (1-4-1, 4 points) managed four shots on goal for the game. It also threatened late, with its first three corners coming after the 80th minute and Brandon Vazquez’s open shot that was saved by the hands of diving Revs goalkeeper Matt Turner in the 82nd.

Cincinnati goalkeeper Kenneth Vermeer also kept his club in the match with key saves, but Cincinnati still dropped to 0-2-0 at its new home pitch.

After owning most of the offensive opportunities in the first half, the Revolution had a quality chance nearly 10 minutes into the second. However, Tommy McNamara’s straight-on look went high over the bar.

New England nearly struck in the 11th minute amid a scrum in front of the FC Cincinnati net, but Buksa’s shot was blocked amid traffic.

Cincinnati, meanwhile, had quality looks from Jurgen Locadia in the 18th and 20th minutes. Turner saved the first attempt and the second hit the bar. Two minutes later, Turner made a diving save on Brenner’s shot.

Vermeer made two impressive saves late in the first half, including a diving effort on Gil’s left-footed curl from just outside the box. He then punched away Brandon Bye’s strike in the final seconds of the opening half.

The Revolution owned a 21-5 advantage in total shots through the first half.

New England was without star Gustavo Bou due to a muscle strain.
