Chicago Fire coach Raphael Wicky will miss Saturday night’s game at Nashville SC and one other match due to a health matter involving a close family member.

The team said Wicky traveled to his native Switzerland due to the seriousness of the situation.

“Head coach Raphael Wicky will not be in attendance tonight or at Wednesday’s game versus D.C. United,” the Fire said in a statement on Saturday. “He has traveled to Switzerland due to a health matter concerning a close family member.

“Assistant coach Frank Klopas will lead the team for the next two matches. Our thoughts and prayers are with Rapha and his family.”

The Fire are a disappointing 3-7-2 this season under the 44-year-old Wicky. Chicago’s 11 points entering Saturday is 12th best among the 14 Eastern Conference teams.

Wicky is in his third season as coach of the Fire.

The 54-year-old Klopas has served head coaching stints with the Fire (2011-13) and Montreal Impact (2014-15).
