The Los Angeles Galaxy and the visiting Vancouver Whitecaps finished off an evenly matched season series Sunday with a 1-1 tie at Carson, Calif.

After three regular-season games between the teams, both sides won a game and lost a game to go along with Sunday’s tie. Each team also scored four goals against each other in the matchup.

Kevin Cabral found the back of the net in the 32nd minute for the Galaxy (10-6-2, 32 points), while Ranko Veselinovic scored in the 50th minute off a header for the Whitecaps (3-7-7, 16 points).

Playing closer to full strength than they have been in over a month, the Galaxy earned a point in their third consecutive game (2-0-1).

After midfielders Efrain Alvarez, Jonathan dos Santos and Sebastian Lletget were missing for more than a month because of national-team duty, all three were together on the field Sunday.

Alvarez (Mexico) started his second consecutive game since the Gold Cup, while dos Santos (Mexico) made his first appearance. Lletget (United States) started for the first time after coming on as a substitute Wednesday in LA’s 1-0 victory over Real Salt Lake.

Galaxy goalkeeper Jonathan Bond made four saves, while Whitecaps goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau made five saves.

The Whitecaps also had some reinforcements back from Gold Cup duty. Crepeau and Lucas Cavallini were back with their club after spending time with Canada’s national team, and they helped Vancouver to a fourth consecutive tie and fifth consecutive games without a loss.

Cavallini had his day cut short because of a non-contact left knee injury sustained late in the first half. Midfielder Ryan Gauld, who most recently played for SC Farense in Portugal, made his Whitecaps debut as a substitute in the 77th minute.

Cabral scored just his second goal in 14 games from his forward position, converting off a pass from Alvarez and scoring from near the penalty spot for a 1-0 Galaxy lead.

The Whitecaps tied the game in the 50th minute when Veselinovic scored off a corner kick from Deiber Caicedo. It was Veselinovic’s first MLS goal from his central defender position in 31 games over two seasons with Vancouver.

The Galaxy continue to await the return of striker Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez, who has not played since June 26 because of a calf injury.
