Los Angeles FC remained unbeaten in all-time regular-season matches against Houston Dynamo FC when the two teams battled to a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon in Houston.

Each team scored in a two-minute window early in the second half. LAFC struck first when Corey Baird waited in the box just onside for a pass from Latif Blessing through the Houston defense and onto his left foot, from where he made short work from very close range to find the bottom-left corner of the net in the 55th minute.

The Dynamo answered and tied the match in the 57th minute, with Tyler Pasher volleying home a right-footed shot from inside the six-meter box after a flawless crossing pass from the left wing by Fabrice-Jean Picault.

LAFC (1-0-2, 5 points) has never lost to the Dynamo, improving to 4-0-3 in seven regular-season matches with Houston by earning a point on the road on Saturday.

Los Angeles earned the edge in possession percentage (61 to 39 percent) and passing accuracy (78 to 64.7 percent) for the match while the Dynamo led in shots (12-10) and corners (8-5). Both teams had four shots on goal.

LAFC pressed the action early on, getting its only real chance to score in the 12th minute when Diego Rossi’s right-footed shot from the center of the box was stopped by a diving save by Marko Maric.

Houston (1-1-1, 4 points) countered with a chance late in the half, as Joe Corona took a pass from Zarek Valentin in the 42nd minute and ripped a shot that LAFC keeper Pablo Sisniega had to leap to his left at the final instant to keep from the top-left corner.

Both sides had chances to break the deadlock in the match’s final stretch. Picault’s point-blank attempt in the 83rd minute was pushed away by Sisniega; then, seven minutes later, Danny Muskovski’s sailing right footer from outside the box was swallowed up by Maric.
