New England Revolution forward Gustavo Bou signed a two-year contract extension through the 2023 season.

The Revolution did not release financial terms of the contract on Tuesday.

“Gustavo has been an essential part of our team since his arrival in 2019 and he has proven to be among the league’s most prolific attacking players,” said Bruce Arena, Revolution sporting director and head coach.

“We are pleased to extend Gustavo’s tenure here in New England and look forward to his continued contributions to our team.”

Bou, 31, said Tuesday that he has felt welcome since joining the Revolution.

“Well, I’m very happy to continue being part of this club,” Bou said. “Like I’ve said, they welcomed me and supported me from day one. To be able to extend my contract today is a very happy moment for myself and my family. Hopefully we can continue achieving big things with this club.”

Bou recorded career highs in both goals (15) and assists (nine) in 30 appearances (25 starts) this season.

He has 29 goals and 14 assists in 62 career appearances (52 starts) in three seasons with the Revolution.
