The United States Men’s National Team has another player in the Premier League after forward Josh Sargent signed with newly promoted side Norwich City.

Sargent, 21, who is a native of O’Fallon, Mo., was starting his fourth season at Germany’s Werder Bremen, which was relegated to the second division this season after finishing 17th in the Bundesliga last season.

Werder Bremen reportedly received a transfer fee of just shy of $13 million.

Two games into the current season, Sargent already had a pair of goals for Werder Bremen, after scoring 11 total goals in his first three seasons with the club.

“It feels great. I’ve always wanted to play in the Premier League, so it’s a very exciting opportunity for me,” Sargent said in a statement.

Norwich City is returning to the Premier League this season after finishing first in the second-division Championship last season. The club was also in the Premier League as recently as 2019-20 but was relegated after a 20th-place finish.

Norwich City will open its season Saturday against Liverpool.

Sargent has 16 games of experience with the USMNT, scoring five goals. He is expected to play a key role in the team’s effort to qualify for the 2022 World Cup at Qatar.

Sargent joins a handful of USMNT players currently in the Premier League including forward Christian Pulisic at Chelsea and goalkeeper Zack Steffen of Manchester City. Defender Cameron Carter-Vickers is property of Tottenham, having most recently been loaned out to Championship side Bournemouth last season.
