Seventh-seeded American Danielle Collins won her 10th consecutive match, helping her to her second straight tournament title with a 6-3, 6-7 (10), 6-1 victory over No. 4 seeded Russian Daria Kasatkina Sunday at the Mubadala Silicon Classic in San Jose, Calif.

Collins, 27, took the three-set match on hardcourt in two hours, 18 minutes in following up her first career single championship at the Palermo Ladies Open on clay last weekend.

Collins, who entered this week at No. 36 in the WTA rankings, had 12 aces in the triumph. Three came consecutively in the final game of the first set as she blasted 21 winners in taking a 1-0 set lead.

Kasatkina, ranked 31st by the WTA entering the tournament, fought off a pair of match points down 5-3 in the second before battling to best Greene’s serve and eventually force a tiebreak, which the 24-year-old finally won 12-10.

The Florida native Collins responded in the decisive third by breaking all three of Kasatkina’s service games, winning the set in just under a half-hour.

Winners Open

Germany’s Andrea Petkovic smashed Mayar Sherif of Egypt 6-1, 6-1 to win her first singles title in more than six years Sunday at the inaugural event in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

It is the seventh career trophy for the second-seeded Petkovic, who turns 34 next month, and her first since February 2015 at Antwerp, Belgium.

Petkovic converted five of 10 break chances and never faced a break point during the 61-minute match against the unseeded Sherif, 25, who hadn’t lost a set all week while becoming the first Egyptian woman ever to reach a WTA singles final.
